My insurance company has hiked up the prices every year. Thankfully they support me continually, consequently if my dog has a problem I can claim for any and all of her problems for the rest of her life. Unfortunately it is expensive.

A friend of mine has the same sort of insurance with one of the supermarket companies, its possibly Sainsburys. Her premiums are much less than mine, however because my dog has had health problems I cannot change companies. All that I can say in the favour of insurance, that regardless of the monthly expence, my claims have been greater than the premiums. Hopefully my little girls problems have now been resolved and I will happily continue with the premiums.

We got our pet insurance through our vet. They cover the dog for life and don't hike up the prices. They also cover ilnesses for life not just a year as some insurances do. We also get a 10% discount for insuring 3 or more pets. Try asking your vet if there is any particular insurance company they work with.

Zaius,

There is now quite a bit of competition for pet insurance, so if you shop around you can get a good deal. Try going to
There are a number of pet insurers there so you can compare the policies side by side to ensure you are getting what you want. There is also a page called Pet Insurance Explained which highlights some of the major points to look for in the insurance policies.

Good luck

Nigel.

If you have a Banfield pet hospital--they have their own insurance--it's pretty good. (alot of them are in Petsmarts)

To be completely honest, all pet insurance is a rip off. I had it 4 years ago and finally when I came to my senses and realized I wasn't getting anything out of it and everything that it did cover wasn't worth it I had a hell of a time getting rid of it. They lock you in and won't let you go and charge you for things that are unnecessary. It was such a scam and have heard this Many Many times!
