    Nope, because the records aren’t in MIB, so it’s not verifiable.

    Its possible… You are responsible for providing proof of prior coverage to your new carrier. Most insurance carriers don’t depend on the database; but rely on the documentation provided by your prior carrier. If you’re moving to the US, and have health insurance through your employer, you should ask the H.R. or Benefit Admin.

    I think it might depend on the insurance company’s determination.

    At my previous employer (large health insurance company), we had a case of a family who moved from Israel – which also has a national health insurance system. It took some documentation, but they were finally able to obtain creditable coverage. I seem to recall much debate at the time as to whether to count it or not – which leads me to think (off the top of my head) that the insurer ultimately has the final say. Its not mandatory for them to give you credit for it.

    (But again, on the bright side, the family did succeed in making their national health coverage from Israel count.)
