Whilst you get free medical care if within an EU country – Not always at the best hospitals.
And if you had an accident/illness where you were really ill/sick and wanted to come back to UK for reasons such as wanting to be closer to other family members – they wont pay for any repatriation fees and this can often be VERY expensive.
Lots of insurance companies do insurance for people such as yourself – best to ring around and ask as others will not insure for longer than a 30 day trip.
And always make sure you disclose every medical condition as if the time came that you wanted to claim – they can often find a way of getting out of it!
    Good luck and have fun

I worked for a insurence company who delt with medical insurence, you say you are emergrating if you have already got medical insurence depending if the company you got your insurence from it they have a office in the country you intend to emergarte you could arrange to transfere the policy to your new new address if they have not got a office in the country you intend to emergrate to they may advise you to take out a further medical insurence in the country you intend to emergrate too. You need to check with your insurence provider.
