Definitely. It will knock your policy down somewhat and for a first time driver you need all the help you need as it will be extortionate anyway.
A lot of insurance companies won’t offer first time insurers comprehensive insurance anyway, my son passed his test last year and I sorted out his car insurance for him. It’s less for the insurance company to pay out if there is a claim at any time.
it depends on the value of the vehicle.
if the car is only worth a few hundred, then TPFT.
if you have paid thousands you need to protect your money so fully comp would be the safest .
Most insurance companies off third party only and as stated, if the car is only worth a couple of hundred quid then that would definately be your best bet. Good luck.
Probably best with Third Party fire and theft to start with. If you start with a bog standard car costing a couple of hundred quid, use third party to hopefully build up your no claims bonus so you can move on to a better car on comprehensive
