The reason for the hike is because of they type of dog. We had two and the same thing happened.
Sometimes it is cheaper to forgo the insurance,
The same with people $ 700 a month to insure 3 people and only $150 per person out of pocket each if they need to see their doctor. Would rather pay out of pocket when needed instead of $700 monthly and not use it.

I think 8 yrs is the cut off age for many companies, especially for the larger breeds as this is when they start to cost money at the vet ! I insure all my Labs with petplan who are middle of the road in price and always pay up quickly. I’ve not noticed an age-related increase. Several people have mention Tesco as having a cheap plan for dogs. It might be best, if you plan to change company, to contact them and ask if the policy increases with age.

PetCare ins. for a Saint runs around 60.00 a month and I feel is a waste of money because generally everything is excluded as far as congenital defects go. Pet Care insurance does cover congenital defects in dogs after the waiting period though. Most pet insurance companies are a waste of money. You only find that out though when you have an insurance claim.

Not surprising… Bullmastiffs don’t live much longer than 8 years, unfortunately… (lovely dog. Had one once.)
