Thousands of claims are made every year on pet insurance. Many claims are made because a dog has become injured while out on walkies. News alert! Walking your dog could be hazardous for its health.

The people at Sainsburys Insurance appreciate that our dogs need their exercise and that the last thing that is good for a dogs health is to keep him indoors – out of harms way. According to the article Walkies on a short lead for Nanny State dogs! our dog walks ought to carry a health warning as they can be so hazardous!

We cant stop our dogs running around and leaping into dirty ponds but we can steer them away from the problem spots if necessary. Our dogs love nothing better than thrashing around in a mucky old pond and will, I believe, invent ways to do so even when under strict instructions not to!!

The best thing to do is to take out some pet insurance in order that our pets are covered from lifes accidents and steer clear of those ponds!

As much as we know our four legged friends enjoy nothing better than a soak in stagnant water, we need to keep them away from all potential hazards. There is an algae in ponds that our dogs will find toxic should they ingest during a splash around. There are cases of septicaemia brought about from lacerations caused by sticks during a simple game of catch.

Beware of the hazards of walkies, for not always is it a walk in the park!

In the UK over two million pet owners had to reject veterinary care because they could not afford to pay the bill. We are a nation who hates seeing suffering in animals, so people must feel really awful at not being able to provide adequate veterinary care for our pets.

According to the article Preparing for those pet dentists visits it is not just a matter of going out and purchasing some pet insurance because people are finding their policies not quite living up to their expectations. What we need to do, according to Sainsburys Finance is to shop more carefully for a pet insurance plan to ensure it covers for injury and illness. The company advise us to be alert to the fact that under some policies, dental care is only provided when injury problems result from accidents.

There is nothing worse than having your hands tied because you cant afford to give your pet the treatment it requires. Shopping around for a sensible and effective policy is the start of a new leaf in the care of your pet and the end to your worries.
